It's been a long time since I've updated on Xanga! I post on Blogger most of the time. I've been busy repairing a lot of books in the past few months, and I'll try to post some of them here. I made this book from scratch back in August of 2005 for a client to give to his son for his high school graduation. The pages are letters from family and friends who've written blessings and shared wisdom for this young graduate. In May, I am going to make a similar book for our son for HIS high school graduation. He has chosen a navy blue bookcloth cover and non-traditional papers (in lieu of French or Italian marbled papers shown similar to that above) for the endpapers. I need to send out reminders to get the letters from friends, family, pastors so that I can get them printed up, along with a few photos, by the end of April. |

Next restoration job:
I need to make a cover (this is definitely not the original) and make a new spine, do some page mends and re-sew in a few of the top signatures. The new bookcloth will be barn red, and I'll likely use hand marbled end-papers.

This is a guest book that I make. I can use a variety of papers and materials, just as I do for the sewn journals below. |
